Practice resumes today for ALL fall sports.

GSW DE Students...I have just received notification that your textbooks for your GSW DE class this semester are ready for pickup. Please pick your books up at the Student Accounts window in the Marshall Student Center on the GSW campus. (The Marshall Student Center is the building that Starbucks, the Cafeteria and the book store is located in.) The pickup window is open daily from 8:30-4:30 pm. If you have any questions about your books please email David Jenkins at david.jenkins@gsw.edu or give Mrs. Hagerson a call at the HS.

Virtual Students,
Edgenuity has an update on the calendar that caused some issues with due dates. We are in the process of changing it back. Please only worry about logging in at minimum during the school week which is Monday through Friday. Do not pay any attention to weekend due dates. Thank you!

Virtual Students have to login each day, Monday through Friday, to be counted present for school attendance.

All Virtual Students in Grades 6-8: make sure to check your school email and look for an email from Coach Burgess with an invitation to Remind for you and your parent/guardian. He and Mrs. Roquemore will be using Remind to send important announcements regarding Edgenuity.

School Access Points - Update
There is an available access point located in the parking lot between our two schools. Select the Wi-Fi that displays as Schley_Outdoor with password Hopeful2020. Wi-Fi is available from 7:00am to 8:00pm.
Remember to be responsible and practice social distancing at all locations.

School Access Points
At this time there are access points located at Union Hill Church, Ebenezer Baptist, American Legion, Pecan Village and the School Board Office. These access points provide filtered internet access for student school work.
The Wi-Fi connections display as SchoolBusInternetXXXX where XXXX is the unique identifier for the access point. The password for each access point is accessXXXX, where XXXX is the same last 4 digits as you see in the Wi-Fi connection.
There are limited data restrictions on each access point for each month. It is imperative to conduct only school related tasks while using school access points.
We truly appreciate the community partners that have allowed us to locate the Wi-Fi Rangers on their property.
Remember to be responsible and practice social distancing at these locations.
We will keep you updated when more sites are added.

South GA Technical College Classes begin Monday, August 17, 2020. Please stop by the high school front office to pickup your orientation packet information.

Once you pickup your orientation packet, if you have any questions please contact Beth Brooks at bbrooks@southgatech.edu.

There have been some questions concerning who is a Virtual Student and who is a Distance Learning Student. Virtual Students are enrolled in the Edgenuity program and receive their learning through the program. Their attendance is taken when they log into Edgenuity. Distance Learning Students are enrolled in In-Person instruction. Due to the 14 Day shutdown, all In-Person Students are Distance Learning Students. Their attendance is taken by their teachers. We hope this clears everything up. Thank you!

Dear Parents,
In light of the recent closure of our schools, and because many of you have requested an opportunity to reconsider online learning, we are re-opening registration for our virtual program, Edgenuity. If you choose this option for your child(ren), you must commit to this program for nine weeks for elementary students and the entire first semester for middle and high school students.
Our bus drivers will also be providing hot spots for Wi-Fi connections in remote areas during school hours August 13-25. We will begin posting those locations in order for students to have access points. Passwords will be emailed directly to student accounts. If you need further help with this please message wildcathelp@schleyk12.org or call 229-937-2405. Hotspots at each school and the Board of Education are available now.
An application for virtual learning can be found on the district and school websites or by following this link: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/851390/Virtual_Learning_Program_Application__extended_.pdf The deadline for returning these applications is August 19, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. You may begin turning those applications in today, and each day, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Board of Education, or you may email them to wildcathelp@schleyk12.org.

Great job Ms. Williams! Overcoming obstacles everyday! Check her out!

Virtual Students,
We are noticing that some of you are quickly going through and taking the first test/quiz. Please know we will only reset the test one additional time. You will need to take your time and concentrate just like you do for any test/quiz at school. Thank you!

Tonight we will hold our Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention seminar for athletes and parents of athletes. We will begin around 5:45 in the cafeteria.

Schley County Nutrition Department will provide meals to all students for the next 14 days. Students will be charged according to their Free & Reduced status. You may order meals at https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=_S8KMdP0MkmEcastia-509JJ_7XnoAZDi7965XLIeghUNDFCWDVSTFgxOFg3SUNHMENDTUQ3Q1pYSy4u
or at your school web page under School Nutrition, Meal order for virtual school. Orders will need to be placed by 9 am each day.

Students...Attendance is being taken for all distance learning classes that are held Live. Being absent for distance learning will affect your exemption status for exams. Also, failure to submit distance learning assignments will affect your exemption status.
Students please pay attention to your email/Microsoft Teams account/Remind as your teachers will communicate with you about when Live lessons will be and the set time. Set times will be during the period/block that you have your teacher during In-Person Instruction. Thank you!
Harley Calhoun, Principal

Student taking Dual Enrollment classes at GSW this semester, books will be delivered to SCHS by Monday, August 17. Classes begin tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12. Instructors are aware of the delay in delivery of books. If you have any questions or concerns please email David Jenkins at david.jenkins@gsw.edu

Due to recent increases in Covid cases within the county and our schools, along with the required quarantines of family members, we are closing schools to students beginning tomorrow, for a period of at least 14 days. Students who have been attending school on campus will receive instructions from their teacher(s) for distance learning over the next two weeks.
Students who began virtual instruction today on Edgenuity should continue their work. Teachers and administrators will be in contact with you regarding your progress in the days to come.
Notifications will continue to go out through Remind and announcements will continue to be published on Facebook.
We are disappointed, to say the least, to have to make this decision, but it is in the best interest of the health of our students and faculty. Please continue to practice the recommended guidelines from the CDC by social distancing and wearing masks so that we can all return to school as soon as possible.

Virtual Students,
We are setting up your Edgenuity classes now. You may login after 8:00 AM, Tuesday, August 11th. You may only see a couple of classes initially. As more classes load you should be able to see all of your schedule.
