PRESS RELEASE

Sumter EMC Foundation Awards Grant to Schley County Middle/High School

Ellaville, GA – Sumter EMC Foundation is pleased to announce the latest grant recipients. One such entity, Schley County Middle/High School, was awarded a grant for $5,000.00 to purchase smartboards to enhance learning in the classroom.

“One of the seven guiding principles that govern the way Sumter EMC operates is involvement in the communities we serve. This project is a great example of how good things happen when people in a community work together for a common goal. Through this grant from our Foundation, Sumter EMC is proud to be a part of the effort to help teachers maximize learning in the classroom,” said Andrea Walker, Chairman of the Sumter EMC Foundation.

Sumter EMC Foundation’s sole purpose is to give back to the communities we serve. Our members donate funds by rounding up their electric bills to the nearest whole dollar, with 100% of their donations going to local nonprofit organizations. Since 2003, Sumter Electric Membership Corporation’s charitable foundation has distributed over $1,117,000 to local organizations in our service territory.

If you are a Sumter EMC member and do not participate in Operation Round-Up®, please call the office at 800-342-6978 to join or sign up online at www.sumteremc.com. A little pocket change each month, when combined with the contributions of others, can add up to life-changing results for our communities.
