This year for the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition, Schley County Middle School had twelve sixth grade participants. These students wrote their own stories, poems, or narratives to enter into the contest. The twelve participants went head to head to compete for the First Place Prize from RESA and to continue on competing against the other local schools within our RESA. The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.
