The Schley County High School Math Department has been working hard to ensure that students know and understand the material for their classes and are not dependent upon just computers and apps. Mr. Bishop has recently completed a unit on Conic Sections in his Pre-Calculus class. He has taken an extra step to show hands on where this unit originates. He got all the students to bring in a cone. They were able to cut their cones to visibly note the shapes that are formed from these cuts: the parabola, circle, ellipse, and hyperbola. Mr. Bishop did a great job of giving these bright students a tangible reinforcement of their unit on Conic Sections!
