In 7th grade math, students have been using proportional relationships to solve multistep percent problems.   The culminating task for these standards involved students planning a Thanksgiving meal for a family of 6-8.  Using online ads and weekly mailers from local stores, students chose items to purchase, calculated discounts and sales tax on these items and were required to stick to a $100 budget.  Many 7th graders realized that groceries are much more expensive than they anticipated!

In 7th grade language arts, students have completed their first narrative writing. They wrote about an event in their life which taught them a lesson. Many students included their friends and family in their writings and put great thought into the life lessons they have learned. We are looking forward to starting our research project when we return from Thanksgiving break!

Students have been hard at work in Social Studies. They have been studying environmental issues across Southern and Eastern Asia and how it impacts the lives of people in the region. Students had a choice of activities from writing griping stories about characters they created battling the elements in a Monsoon, to brochures or posters depicting the extent of pollution in the Ganges or Yangtze River. Well done students!

Coach Blocker's seventh grade science students completed a classification project creating a dichotomous key for large cats. The students had to create trait list, network trees, and then organize the cats into the final dichotomous key.
