Schley County Nutrition Department will provide meals to all students for the next 14 days. Students will be charged according to their Free & Reduced status. Orders will need to be placed by 9 am each day.

Due to recent increases in Covid cases within the county and our schools, along with the required quarantines of family members, we are closing schools to students beginning tomorrow, for a period of at least 14 days. Students who have been attending school on campus will receive instructions from their teacher(s) for distance learning over the next two weeks. Students who began virtual instruction today on Edgenuity should continue their work. Teachers and administrators will be in contact with you regarding your progress in the days to come. Notifications will continue to go out through Remind and announcements will continue to be published on Facebook. We are disappointed, to say the least, to have to make this decision, but it is in the best interest of the health of our students and faculty. Please continue to practice the recommended guidelines from the CDC by social distancing and wearing masks so that we can all return to school as soon as possible.

Virtual Students, We are setting up your Edgenuity classes now. You may login after 8:00 AM, Tuesday, August 11th. You may only see a couple of classes initially. As more classes load you should be able to see all of your schedule. Your password is the first 7 characters of your current password. LEAVE OFF THE SPECIAL CHARACTER AT THE END OF YOUR PASSWORD. Virtual Attendance Check-Ins Students and Parents can now check-in using Infinite Campus Portal once each day to signify participation.

After reading the book My Mouth is a Volcano, Mrs. Peacock’s class discussed how words can hurt. As an activity, each student was given an amount of toothpaste to put in a straw to simulate a toothpaste tube. They discussed how once you say something, it’s very hard to take it back.

We need to make a slight adjustment for our parents that plan to walk their Pre-K and Kindergarten students in the building tomorrow. You will be able to walk them down to the entrance of the new wing hallway, however we will need the students to walk the rest of the way to class by themselves. Student in grades 1-5 will not be able to be escorted to class. Thank you for understanding as we try to keep our students, faculty, & all involved safe.

Virtual School Parents, Attendance assignment check-in through Infinite Campus should be available Monday, August 10th. An update from Infinite Campus is not available to allow the virtual attendance until Sunday night. Edgenuity should also be available on Monday. We want to thank all of you for a smooth morning! I want to update all of you that things are going well today! Thank you for wearing masks, taking students to their teacher's door, and thank you for your cooperation this morning. As a reminder, tomorrow Pre-K and Kindergarten students can be walked to the room just like today. Students in Grades 1-5 will not be able to be walked to class. Parents, Directions in Infinite Campus to take virtual school attendance video can be found at https://www.infinitecampus.com/video/covid-19-student-option-student-video We are taking attendance once per day rather than the once per course from the video. We ask that the following guidelines are met. 1. Only two parents and the student may attend open house. Please do not bring other siblings or other adults. 2. Parents must wear masks at all times while in the building, and we encourage students to wear masks. 3. Individual temperatures will be taken before entry into the building. If someone has a fever, they will not be allowed in the building. 4. At the conclusion of the meeting, we ask that you return to your vehicle so that we can bring in the next group of parents and students.

Schley County Elementary School is tremendously grateful for the items donated by Mr. Reagan Barksdale and the hard working people at Tape Specialists of Georgia. Mr. Barksdale and TSG donated face shields for our faculty to wear and also the material pictured that will serve as dividers in our computer labs. These donations will go a long way in helping us promote wellness here at SCE! Thank you to Mr. Barksdale and to the good folks at TSG!

Parents, You will need your child's Georgia Testing ID (GTID) number to complete the application for the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services to provide food benefits of families with children who receive free and reduced lunch. This GTID number is available in Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Once you login select More and then GTID. In the top right you are able to select each child.
