As an introduction to Fall, students read a variety of texts (fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) pertaining to the season in which apples are harvested. Students also learned about the stages of an apple's life cycle as well as an apple's parts in Science to correlate to the theme. To complete the week, students participated in a taste test of Red Delicious, Honeycrisp, and Granny Smith apples thanks to our lunchroom. Students chose their favorite type apple and graphed the results. Students were excited to complete the unit by drinking apple cider.
