students with totem poles

Third grade students are learning about Native Americans and the regions that they lived in.  They are learning how the climate, natural resources, and area affected their shelter, clothing, food and anything specific to that region.  Students learned that Native Americans in the Northwest Region carved totem poles.  They learned what the carvings stood for and where they were placed.  Students colored and created their own totem poles to display.  Pictured are students from each of the third grade classes showing their totem poles.
