Fifth grade students at Schley County Elementary enjoyed a very special guest last Friday. Mr. Dennis Jones greeted students as they walked onto the football field with his drone. He demonstrated the capabilities of the drone showing how high it could fly and the distance it was capable of covering. Mr. Jones shared with the students how the drone was used in his agricultural career, including photographs of corn fields. Students were encouraged to brainstorm other careers in which drones would be an asset. They discussed the cost of drones, how to obtain a license to fly and drone and other business/career opportunities available. A big thank you to Mr. Jones for taking time out of his busy schedule for the presentation. (Many students will have the opportunity to operate a drone in Mrs. Karen Jones robotics/computer class for 5th graders at Schley County Elementary this school year.)
