After checking local road conditions and consulting with county officials, Schley County Schools will remain closed for Thursday, January 23rd. The expected overnight refreezing we feel may result in unsafe conditions for Thursday morning travel. We hope everyone remains safe and warm. Students are reminded to continue with the given or posted snow day assignments from Tuesday.
Due to the expected weather conditions, Schley County Schools will have an early release day tomorrow January 21st. Students will be dismissed at 12:00. Also, Wednesday January 22nd will be an asynchronous learning day. Neither students nor faculty will report on Wednesday. We hope everyone is safe and warm throughout this winter weather.

SCHEDULED SAFETY DRILL Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 8, 2024, the Schley County School District will be conducting a pre-planned Lockdown Drill. We conduct this drill to practice and prepare our staff, students and local emergency responders to appropriately respond in the event of an armed intruder on our campus. This drill will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. If you attempt to visit the school during the drill you will not be able to enter until the drill is completed. We appreciate your support and assistance in providing for the safety and security of our students and staff.

The Schley County School system must engage in timely and meaningful consultation with representatives of private schools and with parents about the provision of special education and related services for parentally placed private school children attending private schools within the school system’s jurisdictions. This would include parents of students in a homeschool setting. Schley County Schools will hold a Proportionate Share Consultation meeting to carry out this process on Tuesday, October 29th at 2:00PM. The meeting will be held at the Schley County Board of Education office, located at 161 Perry Drive, Ellaville, GA 31806. Schley County Schools has a duty to locate, evaluate and identify any child residing in the district who are suspected of, or have a disability or developmental delay. Children eligible for special education include those children with disabilities who have autism, deaf-blindness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, visual impairment or developmental delay and who, because of such an impairment, need special education services. Due to the deteriorating weather conditions on Thursday and the severe weather expected early Friday morning, Schley County Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday, September 26 and 27th. All Thursday afterschool events have been cancelled. Weather permitting, maintenance and custodial staffs will report at noon on Friday. We hope everyone is safe throughout the predicted weather.
Thank you to the families that came to our Title I Information and Book Fair on Tuesday. We love when our students read and it was fun having book characters read to the students.
Schley County Elementary will be hosting their Title I Annual Meeting and Family Night at their Book Fair on September 10 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The Book Fair will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. that night.
Free & Reduced carryover date is September 16, 2024. Students will eat on SY 23-24 status until September 16, 2024, or until a new Free & Reduced application has been processed for SY 24-25.
