To be tested, individuals must be Georgia residents. Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

Elderly individuals and those with chronic medical conditions have increased risk for COVID-19.

 

It’s important for individuals who have mild symptoms to self-quarantine for 14 days. If symptoms worsen, call your health care provider for evaluation.  Those without a healthcare provider or without insurance, should contact their local health department for guidance.

 

Please call 706-321-6300 before arriving at the Columbus drive-thru site. Specimen collection is heldMonday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm behind the Columbus Health Department at 2100 Comer Avenue. Specimen collection will be Saturday, May 16th, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the Columbus Civic Center, 400 4th Avenue. (Please enter on Lumpkin Blvd.) Collection on Sunday, May 17th, will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in Cordele, at the   J.R. Dowdy Building, 1129 N 5th Street. There is no charge for testing at any location.

Be sure to call before going to a doctor’s office, emergency room, or urgent care center and tell them about your symptoms. 

 

We urge all individuals to practice these prevention measures:

 

  • Stay home. Don’t leave home unnecessarily. When you go out, practice social distancing: six feet between you and the person closest to you. Wear a mask or cloth face covering.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
